I have been photographing this family for a long time. The first time we did a shoot, I wasn’t feeling great (it later turned out I had the flu) but we were right at the beginning of peak foliage in the fall and I wasn’t about to take the chance of missing that. The boys were SO good and loved posing for me. They were so cute and had me cracking up, coming up with their own poses and everything. The following year, we did a session in Montauk, where their family has a house and we vacation every summer. I found a little inlet and again, the boys were amazing to photograph! We laughed SO hard during that shoot! This time, mom promised it would be a family shoot. Erin reached out to me via email, while were finished up a last minute trip to Montauk and asked if I could find time to do their session in the next 7 days, as she was scheduled to start radiation for her very recent diagnosis of cancer. I was heartbroken, but since I knew the weather was going to be really nice that evening, I told her we would shoot that night, as were heading home anyway. We had gorgeous weather, a simple but beautiful location and I was thrilled to finally meet her husband! As usual, my face hurt from smiling and laughing during their session. The boys loved on their mom, Erin was never without a smile or laugh and Jason made sue everyone had a great time.
Erin went on to successfully complete her treatments and is doing really well. I know this time right now, during the Covid-19 outbreak, is super scary for everyone, but it is especially scary for those that are immune-compromised and even worse for those with lung conditions like Erin. As much as I miss all my clients and having sessions, we all need to stay home, wash our hands and look out for those in our communities who need us to stay healthy for them to stay healthy.
Peanut and Pip Photography is a Long Island based, natural-light, on-location and studio fine art photographer. We also love to travel and service all of New York City and the tri-state area. Our style is classic and timeless, with a bit of whimsy. Our goal is to preserve this moment in time. We strive to capture the magic and wonder of childhood, the dreams of teens and seniors and the love between families with beautiful, breathtaking and timeless portraits. Every session is customized to you and your family. My works stands out because it is a collaborative effort between my clients and me. I find a way to integrate both of our visions. I often joke that I have crazy ideas, but my clients always trust my vision because they know they will get something unique in the end. I don’t see the world the way everyone else does and that is reflected in the art I create. My ability to create on the spur of the monument is part of my magic. While I always have my go-to locations, I rarely shoot them the same way each time I go there. I get bored of the same things very easily and no two sessions are ever the same, even when shot at the same locations.
