3 months ago, Piper turned 7 in January and a few days before her birthday, I decided to try to take pictures of her inside, studio style, since it was cold out. Also, without snow, Long Island is really not very pretty in winter! I wasn’t very inspired to attempt outdoor pictures and really wanted to practice my fine art indoor sessions. Piper was a total professional! She loved changing into the different outfits and when I told her I wanted to include her guitar, she was all over that! She had been begging to take guitar lessons for a few year and we finally started them in the fall. While she doesn’t love to practice, she lover her guitar lessons and her instructor is really cool! He teaches her songs from Nirvana, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, while also teaching her chords and how to read music. Its so cool to see your child learn something new and do it so well.
We even got one of our whippets Hudson into a few pictures. He apparently loves getting involved and he sat on a tiny little chair so well! Our other whippet wanted nothing to do with pictures and she ran away when I tried to get her involved.
I was really impressed with how much Piper was into this session and followed all my directions, considering she doesn’t do anything I tell her, photo shoot or not! Piper is FULL of personality, all the time. She is a force to be reckoned with. I love her so much, even though she drives me crazy! She is silly and smart, cute and crazy, spunky and spontaneous, sensitive and silly, messy and manic, inventive and insane! I always say her mind must be a really interesting place because she comes out with some really fascinating things. She is so beautiful, but often such a beautiful mess. And while I say she is the reason I drink (no really, sometimes I really do need to drink because of her!) I don’t know I would change much about her. I know she will move mountains.
Peanut and Pip Photography is a Long Island based, natural-light, on-location photographer. We also love to travel and service all of New York City and the tri-sate area. Our style is classic and timeless, with a bit of whimsy. Our goal is to preserve this moment in time. We strive to capture the magic and wonder of childhood, the dreams of teens and seniors and the love between families with beautiful, breathtaking and timeless portraits. Every session is customized to you and your family. My works stands out because it is a collaborative effort between my clients and me. I find a way to integrate both of our visions. I often joke that I have crazy ideas, but my clients always trust my vision because they know they will get something unique in the end. I don’t see the world the way everyone else does and that is reflected in the art I create. My ability to create on the spur of the monument is part of my magic. While I always have my go-to locations, I rarely shoot them the same way each time I go there. I get bored of the same things very easily and no two sessions are ever the same, even when shot at the same locations.
