Braden kicked off this year’s set of communion sessions with some serious swagger. As the second child, he’s full of personality. He had me cracking up at his poses and when asked, he just turned it ON. I had taken his older brother’s communion portraits a few years ago (he’s also so full of personality and swagger!) When mom mentioned she had tuxedos from wedding they were just in, I told her she HAD to put the 3 of them in them for the shoot. Add some top hats, and viola! we have some fun and different boy portraits. Braden made a last minute decision to wear a different suit for this actual communion, so we made sure we shot in him that. As were getting ready to start the session, I realized I had 3 pink, lawn flamingos in my truck. My crazy mind immediately pictured the 3 boys with the tuxes and the flamingos and because I have the best clients, mom said to run with it. The boys thought I had lost my mind but I knew we’d get something really cool and we did!
It can difficult to make boy’s pictures ethereal, as its not a word often associated with boys, but the light we had that day really helped create that mood for Braden’s communion portraits. I’ve said before, boy’s communions sessions can be someone mundane, as there aren’t many “props” to use as there with the girls (veils, flowers, gloves, floral ladders, etc.) but when a kid has as much personality as Braden has, it really helps to elevate the overall session. Flamingos help too.
If you are interested in booking a session, contact me email@example.com. I’d to hear about your vision and make it a reality.
Peanut and Pip Photography is a Long Island based, natural-light, on-location photographer. We also love to travel and service all of New York City and the tri-sate area. Our style is classic and timeless, with a bit of whimsy. Our goal is to preserve this moment in time. We strive to capture the magic and wonder of childhood, the dreams of teens and seniors and the love between families with beautiful, breathtaking and timeless portraits. Every session is customized to you and your family. My works stands out because it is a collaborative effort between my clients and me. I find a way to integrate both of our visions. I often joke that I have crazy ideas, but my clients always trust my vision because they know they will get something unique in the end. I don’t see the world the way everyone else does and that is reflected in the art I create. My ability to create on the spur of the monument is part of my magic. While I always have my go-to locations, I rarely shoot them the same way each time I go there. I get bored of the same things very easily and no two sessions are ever the same, even when shot at the same locations.
