Today is the day. My little girl is 5. I feel like she’s been 4 forever. And 5 seems like the beginning of the grown-up ages. I know she’s still a baby, but she’s becoming such a big girl in the last couple of months. Starting kindergarten and learning so many new things, I see such a difference in her some days. She loves kindergarten and learning. She wants to do all her homework for the week in one day and then looks for more. She’s beginning to read and is so proud of herself when she recognizes words.
Last week for Halloween she insisted on being a gumball machine. I kept trying to convince to pick a different costume but she wouldn’t waiver. So we made her a gumball machine costume (and Piper was cotton candy. They were SO cute!) I was really proud of her for sticking with what she wanted and not giving in to my requests. She didn’t ask to be Elsa like all the other girls. She was really proud of her costume and it was a huge hit. I really beamed with pride, not over our costume making skills (which were pretty damn good!!) but because it was HER choice. It really made me see her in a whole new way.
I’m so busy this year with client shoots (her birthday really falls at a very inconvenient time of year for me!) so I haven’t had a chance to do an individual 5 year photo shoot for her, but since I have been taking so many pictures of her, I’m sharing some recent (and not to recent) pictures. I think she’s pretty sick of photo shoots right now. When she wants them, she’s amazingly cooperative and really turns it on. But other times, not so much! I took the girls and the dogs out the night before her birthday to get some pictures for our holiday card and grabbed a couple of just her. But I had to promise it was the last photo shoot of the year. I’m sure I’ll beg for another before the year is up!
I’m including some pictures I never shared from the fall and summer and will also post another session from the summer that was probably my favorite one of her ever. But for now…..
