I love love love doing styled sessions. I do them with my own girls all the time and at least 1-2 times a year I dream up a styled shoot for Miss Julia. Julia is definitely one of my muses. I often dream up styled shoots with her in mind. This time, I knew I wanted her in a red dress in a very green, lush setting. But I also found an amazing blush colored skirt and paired it with a pretty lace camisole top, so that was how we started off the session. I love shooting Julia because I have to give her very little direction. She just understands how to pose and emote to the camera perfectly.
What I love about styled shoots, is I get to be completely creative, because I’m s usually “shooting for me” and not a client. But the truth is, I style pretty much all my clients’ shoots too. I work with my clients to create unique shoots for them. I help them pick wardrobe, either by selecting from their wardrobes, or suggesting what to buy. If there are little girls, I will also offer up some of the dresses I have (which, in case you couldn’t tell from my shoots with my girls, we have LOT!) I am always buying things, not only for Zoe & Piper, but also for my clients. I am happy and very willing to lend out my own dresses and accessories for shoots. Sometimes, I do the styling completely on my won and other times its a collaborative effort with the client. It all depends. Some clients want me to create the whole thing so all they have to do is show up and other times a client has a specific vision but might need help pulling it all together. I love both scenarios.
I’d love to do more styled sessions for clients (I think my kids get a little sick of it after a while!) These types sessions are usually best geared toward one child, but it can be done with more. It really depends on the children and their personalities. If you’re interested setting up a styled session, please email me firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s chat!
Now, onto Julia and her stunning self:
