A Trans-Atlantic Photo Shoot | Long Island Family Photographer

I’d love to say my clients travel all the way from London just for photo shoots with me, but unfortunately, that’s just not true. But while Victoria and Michael were visiting NY from London, they wanted a photo shoot with their insanely adorable 4 month old son, Haydn. Luckily, we were able to squeeze them in for a very last minute shoot and I was so happy to be able to photograph them. They were one of the sweetest and funniest couples. And Haydn and those smiles completely stole my heart. I wish a photograph could capture sound because Victoria had THE perfect English accent. I seriously could have listened to her speak for days.

Victoria and Michael had a few images they knew they’d like to try and capture and I made she we did those first. I love when a client has some ideas to add to the session. I think it helps personalize it to them. They also brought along a very special toy they wanted to include. Somewhere in our phone consultation, Victoria mentioned that Haydn had two passports. I made sure she brought them along, as I had borrowed a cute little suitcase for the session.

It was one of those perfect summer nights, with gorgeous light and no humidity (I hate humidity. I came to realize this winter that I really don’t mind the cold. And ever since my pregnancy with Piper, I get very nauseous in the extreme heat and humidity.) We were also blessed with a pretty bugless shoot until the very end, when Haydn was pretty much over it anyway. Jetlag really messed with his sleep patterns, poor guy!

summer family photo shootThis was one of the images Victoria really wanted. And Haydn was so happy about it: 2014-08-02_0002Michael kept insisting that Haydn could stand really well. For a 4 month old. And he was right: 2014-08-02_0003This yellow truck was Michael’s when he was a little boy. I love that they brought it along to incorporate into the session. Personal touches like that make everything more meaningful: 2014-08-02_0004 2014-08-02_0005 2014-08-02_0006I had this idea of Haydn, the suitcase and his passports. It was only made better by the Union Jack luggage tag: 2014-08-02_0007 2014-08-02_0008I adored meeting this family and I hope I get to see them again on there next trip back to the States: 2014-08-02_0009
