Kole: Senior Session

Last month, my cousin Kole came up to visit from Florida. She hadn’t been here since the summer of 2009, when I was still pregnant with Zoe, so she hadn’t met her little cousin and we were beyond thrilled she was going to be here for Zoe’s first birthday! She was actually going to come a week earlier and I asked her to change it to be here for the festivities. It was a very crazy busy week, between party planning and my clients, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to do a senior session with Kole. I love photographing her because a) she is beautiful and very photogenic and b) she knows how to have fun in front of the camera. She just isn’t very self-conscious (and I mean that in the biggest complimentary way.) I always have fun hanging out with Kole because, although she is very mature and smart, she is also a huge goofball and somehow always suckers me into too!

We headed over to the Massapequa Preserve and the light was simply stunning that day. The foliage was still strong, even though it was at the end of the season. I love this series in color:

And in black & white:

I know I’m slightly biased, since she’s my kin and all, but come on! She’s beautiful:

Ohhhh, light flares, I heart you:

As if this picture wasn’t gorgeous enough in color:

…check it out in sepia:

I always knew Kole had beautiful eyes, but I never noticed just how long her eyelashes were:

Calling Jennifer Aniston, I think we just found your doppelganger:

I have to give props to my mom, who tagged along with Zoe, and suggested Kole sit in this tree hole. We both kinda looked her like she was mad and then we tried it. So, thanks mom, I guess sometimes you do have good ideas:

What’s a photo shoot without a funky headband:

Remember I said the light was amazing….I was NOT lying:

There is a really cool bridge that I knew I wanted to get some shots using. There are always people fishing off it but I certainly didn’t think anyone would be fishing in the cool November weather. I was wrong. There were two old men there and I had to be creative in cropping them out of the shots:

We moved to the other side of the bridge and I decided to include the men in the background:

Kole was able to sit with me while I edited a few pictures and she loved the faded color of this one:

But I love the way she jumps out the background in the black & white:

I always love a photo session with Kole, but I really loved doing a senior session and hope to do lots more very soon!!!
